Three things worth trying first

A good share of the issues we see are solved by these three steps, and trying them saves you a wait.

  • Fully close the app and reopen it; syncing usually completes on launch
  • Check the App Store or Google Play for an update and install it if there is one
  • Check your internet connection; syncing your forest needs one

Why did my forest dry out?

The forest mirrors your study habit. Every hour you stay away, land health drops a little. Once it falls below halfway the plants start to wither, and at zero the drought begins: the ground scorches, the plants dry up, and the animals stop moving.

None of this is permanent. Study some words to earn rain points, then bring the rain: land health goes straight back to full, the plants recover, and the animals start wandering again.

No animal, plant, or sculpture is ever removed because of drought. The names you gave them and the layout you arranged stay exactly as they were.

How does my progress sync?

Your word progress, rain points, forest layout, and gold and diamond balances are stored in the cloud against your account. While the app is open and connected, changes upload in the background.

Anything you study offline is held on your device and uploaded once you are back online. After a long offline stretch it is worth opening the app once while connected.

If you think a sync has not completed, close the app and reopen it. If the problem persists, write to us with the email address on your account.

I changed phones. What happens to my forest?

Nothing is lost. Install the app on the new device and sign in with the same account; your forest, your word progress, and your balances all come with you.

The forest may take a few seconds to load the first time, so a good connection on that first sign-in helps.

Moving between iOS and Android carries your progress across too. The one thing that does not carry over is store-linked purchases: something bought through Apple will not be valid on Google Play, because the two stores keep entirely separate purchase records.

Sign out of the app before you hand your old device on to someone else.

Can I use the app without internet?

Most word study works offline. Your progress uploads automatically once you are connected again.

Features that depend on the cloud need a connection: syncing your forest to another device, market purchases, and parts of adventure mode.

If you stay offline for a long time, land health still falls, because it is calculated from elapsed time. Reconnect, bring the rain, and the forest recovers.

I bought something and it did not arrive

First, fully close the app and reopen it. Store confirmation is sometimes delayed by a few minutes and the content is credited on launch.

If it is still missing, try the restore purchases option in the app and make sure you are signed in with the same store account you bought it with.

If the problem continues, send your store receipt (the email from Apple, or your Google Play order number) along with your account email to info@vocabularyforest.com. We will verify the transaction and credit the content manually.

If you want a refund instead, you need to start that with the store; the details are in the refunds section at https://vocabularyforest.com/pages/terms-of-service.html.

I cannot get into my account

Use the password reset flow on the sign-in screen; the reset link goes to your account's email address. If it does not arrive, check your spam folder.

If you cannot remember which email you registered with, write to info@vocabularyforest.com. Include anything that helps us find the account: roughly when you signed up, the device you used, and a purchase receipt if you have one.

For security reasons we cannot grant access to an account we are unable to verify as yours. That restriction exists to protect your data.

How do I delete my account?

There are two routes: the settings section inside the app, or an email request to us.

The full steps, along with what gets deleted immediately and what we have to keep for a while for legal reasons, are listed at https://vocabularyforest.com/pages/delete-account.html.

Deletion cannot be undone; your forest, word progress, and virtual balances are lost permanently.

How do I report a bug?

Email info@vocabularyforest.com with a short summary in the subject line, for example: rain button not responding.

The more concrete the description, the faster the fix. Copying the checklist in the next section and filling it in is enough.

A screenshot or a short screen recording of the problem usually cuts diagnosis time in half.

What to include in a bug report

Paste these headings into your email and fill them in, and we can usually solve the problem on the first reply.

  • Device model (for example iPhone 13, Samsung Galaxy S22)
  • Operating system version (for example iOS 18.4, Android 15)
  • App version (shown at the bottom of the in-app settings section)
  • The email address on your account
  • The steps to reproduce the problem, in order
  • What you expected to happen and what happened instead
  • When it started, and whether it happens every time or only occasionally
  • A screenshot or screen recording if you have one

Never send your password or payment details by email. Our support team will never ask for them.

Accessibility feedback

We want the app and the site to be comfortable for everyone to use. Our target is WCAG 2.1 AA.

If you hit a snag with a screen reader, find an unlabelled control, spot low-contrast text, meet a button that is too small to tap, or run into an animation that makes you uncomfortable, please tell us.

When your device has reduced motion enabled, the app and the site tone down their larger animations. If you still see motion that bothers you with that setting on, do write in; we treat those reports as bugs.

Accessibility feedback goes to info@vocabularyforest.com. Putting accessibility in the subject line is enough.

Press and partnerships

For reviews, interviews, school or institutional use, or content partnerships, write to info@vocabularyforest.com.

For press use we can share app screenshots, character illustrations, and our logo. Telling us where it will be published speeds things up.

The rules for using our artwork are in the intellectual property section at https://vocabularyforest.com/pages/terms-of-service.html.
